The demand for medics is at an all-time high so if you’re looking for a new career or want to advance in your current  iv training profession, the National EMS Academy can help.

With campuses in Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Covington, Gretna, Houma, Lafayette, and Lake Charles, the Academy has produced more than 3,400 EMTs and 1,500 paramedics since its inception in 2003.

The Academy’s EMT program lasts four months and provides entry-level patient care training. The paramedic program offers the highest level of pre-hospital emergency care; you’ll be trained to perform advanced life support, which includes administering IV fluids, injections, medications and performing advanced respiratory procedures. NEMSA also offers continuing education courses to the public and health-care professionals.

“With more than 100 years of experience, our instructors help map out a career path that best suits each student,” NEMSA Program Manager Greg Mullens said. “Once certified, the job opportunities and advancements for both EMTs and paramedics are endless.”

Employment of EMTs and paramedics is projected to grow 23 percent over the next 10 years, much faster than most occupations. Employment opportunities within EMS include fire and police departments, hospitals, and public or private ambulance services. Work also can be found in the corporate or industrial world and at sporting events and film shoots.

Alex Durio, former NEMSA student and Acadian’s Paramedic of the Year, said, “The Academy is producing a generation of medics that are highly educated and rigorously trained to be the future leaders of the EMS industry. I am proud to be a part of it.”

Information sessions for 2015 are currently being held and are mandatory for inclusion in EMT and paramedic training programs. For more information or to sign up in your area, please sign up for an information session.
