Fund Details
Purpose of the Fund:
To provide immediate financial assistances to employees who experience a financial hardship due to an emergency situation that is beyond their control. This includes providing shelter, medical attention, clothing and other programs in the event of a qualified (Federally declared) disaster. It focuses on emergency family and housing needs that must be met in order for the individuals to continue working and contributing to the rebuilding of the community.
Priorities:
- Applicants with no permanent housing
- Emergency housing repairs (when health conditions are immediately threatened
- Critical medical expenses not covered by insurance
- Food and clothing
Needs Covered by the Fund:
a) Housing
Homeowners – repairs, replacing home appliances and furniture, replacing windows and doors, debris removal, cleaning services, insurance deductible.
Renters – Security deposit plus first and last month for those needing to relocate, replacement of home appliance and furniture and other expenses not covered by insurance and not included in the rental housing.
b) Medical
Critical medical care (including preventive care, such as tetanus and other immunizations), deductibles, medical supplies (replacement of prescription drugs, eyeglasses, wheelchairs, dentures or other items lost or damaged).
Eligibility Requirements:
Eligible recipient is on a per household basis that, at the time of the disaster event, there resided at least one active employee meeting the following criteria:
- Full time employee
- Part time employee who in the thirty days prior to the named disaster met the minimum hourly requirements; or Active employee who meets one of the above criteria or would meet the above criteria but for that employees placement on Worker’s Compensation (absent due to a qualifying FMLA event or placement on disability based upon a qualifying ADA event)
Limitation on Application Process:
In an effort to assist as many employees as possible, the following limitations shall apply to the Fund:
a) Employees shall be allowed to apply to the fund once every 18 months, with a lifetime cap of $5,000
b) Any employee who reaches the $5,000 cap shall be permanently prohibited from applying to the fund
c) Employees are limited to one grant per household per disaster event
