How much does the program cost?

Tuition for the EMT program are established by the university and are subject to change.

Is financial aid available?
The partnership between Texas A&M Engineering Extension (TEEX). A deposit will be required for enrollment: $100-EMT and $100-Paramedic.

Do you accept VA benefits?
We do not accept VA benefits (at this time) for the EMT program.

For our Paramedic program, yes, we do. If you have not applied for your benefits, please visit eBenefits to fill out your application. Submit a copy of your COE to the School Certifying Official (SCO), or contact them with any questions. If you have questions for VA regarding the eBenefits website, please call 1-800-827-1000.

Do you have to be a basic before you can become a paramedic?
Yes. State certification standards require that you become certified at least at the EMT level before participating in a Paramedic certification course.

How long does it take to get certified?
It takes approximately 3-4 months to become certified as an basic and approximately 12 months to complete the requirements for certification as a paramedic.

Where can I work once I am certified?
Jobs for EMTs and paramedics exist in several different sectors. The primary employers of EMTs and paramedics are public and private ambulance companies. Within those organizations, many EMTs and paramedics work on ground ambulances, in aero-medical transport (helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft), offshore, or in education. However, job opportunities also exist in hospitals, and petrochemical and manufacturing industries. According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, the EMT/Paramedic job prospects are considered favorable with a projected growth rate of 9 percent through 2018.

How much do EMTs and paramedics get paid?
Pay varies according to employer and geographic location. Average pay for entry-level EMT personnel is up to $30,000 per year, and paramedics is up to $40,000 per year.

How often are classes offered?
EMT classes start every spring and fall semester. Paramedic programs begin approximately every 15 months. As one program completes, preparations to start the next class begins. Please contact us for more specific class dates.
