On Tuesday, November 12, Acadian Ambulance and the National EMS Academy held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the move into their new operations administration building and education facility. Local elected officials and Acadian partners were present for the celebration.
Acadian Ambulance has served Lafourche Parish since 1982 and remains committed to serving the residents of the parish. The facility allows Acadian to house operations management and education in one place. The operations offices include a station for crews as well as space for the regional operations manager and supervisory staff. The National EMS Academy space includes classrooms and a simulation lab for EMT and Paramedic classes.
Acadian Regional Vice President Timothy Burke reflected on the company’s history in Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes, having served there since 1973 and 1982, respectively.
Thibodaux Mayor Kevin Clement, Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Tammy Ledet, and Parish President Archie Chiasson spoke to the group. Ledet thanked Acadian for their participation in the Chamber’s Workforce Wednesdays, aimed at educating eighth grade students about different career options. Chiasson noted how Acadian’s new facility in Thibodaux is a benefit for both workforce development and emergency response services.
