Become an Emergency Medical Technician

Make A Difference Every Day

 

EMT is the entry-level position in the emergency medical services field. In five months, you can learn the skills you will need to work as part of a medical response team. EMTs provide basic emergency medical care and transportation to patients who access the EMS system. Medics make a difference, every day.

A few of the skills you will learn:

  • Opening the airway and providing artificial ventilation
  • Delivery of semi-automated defibrillation
  • Controlling severe bleeding
  • Dressing and bandaging wounds
  • Splinting injured extremities
  • Delivery and care of infants
  • Emergency vehicle operations
  • Communications and medical record keeping

Our Austin courses meet nightly from 6 to 10 p.m. twice a week on Monday and Wednesday. Beaumont courses meet 8 a.m. to noon. Occasional Saturdays will be required at both site locations.
